Brian was raised in Vancouver and moved to Victoria 15 years ago. His love of all things aquatic began when his family purchased a yearly pass to the Vancouver Aquarium where he and his brother spent most weekends wandering the exhibits and causing general havoc. His teen years were slightly unconventional in that he spent 3 years in a Benedictine Monastery where he discovered the magic of photography and the darkroom.
Brian and his soon to be wife , Roberta , took to the road in their late teens , working in Whistler B.C. and Vancouver in the Hotel Industry. They travelled extensively throughout Canada , United States and Europe by motorcycle working along the way , and even settled in Greece for a couple of years and opened a restaurant ! Brian continued to click away on his Canon and set up his darkroom wherever he could.
On a whim 15 years ago they decided to give Victoria a try and have been here ever since. Brian's love of the sea has led him to be extensively involved with Marine search and rescue . He now works in the whalewatching and fishing charter business , where he can share his love of the whales and the surrounding area with all those who are foolish enough to ask him. He has finally made the leap to digital photography , but still pulls out the old Canon from time to time.
